Exchange Migrations in MigrationWiz - Prevent Outlook from asking for credentials after manually creating an Outlook profile

If Outlook profiles are created manually or by using Exchange AutoDiscover, users may be prompted for their Exchange credentials when Outlook is launched.

A Windows Security dialog box may appear after Outlook launches (see below). Normally this can be fixed by checking the Remember my credentials checkbox after entering your credentials and clicking the OK button.

In some cases, you will be asked for Exchange credentials whenever Microsoft Outlook is launched, but there is no option for Remember my credentials in the Windows Security dialog box.

To prevent Microsoft Outlook from asking for Exchange credentials each time when launches, you can change some Exchange settings under Account Settings.

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Account Settings dialog box:
  2. In Outlook 2007, click Tools > Account Settings.

  3. In Outlook 2010+, click File > Info > Account Settings Account Settings.
  4. In the Account Settings dialog box, go to the E-mail tab > click to highlight the Exchange account that asks for logon credentials every time Microsoft Outlook is opened > click the Change button.
  5. In the new dialog box of Change Account, click More Settings.
  6. In the Microsoft Exchange dialog box, go to the Security tab, and uncheck the option for Always prompt for logon credentials.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click Next  > click the Finish button in the Change Account dialog box.
  9. Click Close to exit the Account Settings dialog box.
