How do I bulk change the domain in migration account email addresses?
There are two ways you can bulk update the domain name in the email addresses of migration mailbox accounts:
- You can use the Change Domains button in MigrationWiz
- You can download and run the PowerShell script Change-MW_ExportAddresses.ps1
Use the Change Domains button
MigrationWiz now provides the option of doing a bulk update of email addresses on both the source and destination computers, where the change is of the address domain. The image below shows the Change Domains button.
When you click on the Change Domains button, the following box opens to allow you to bulk change the domain associated with mailboxes on the source or destination.
Use the BitTitan SDK PowerShell script
If the BitTitan SDK has not been installed on your computer, the first step is to download and install it. Our SDK will include the PowerShell and the Management Console modules. Click here to see the system requirements and download the SDK.
Before using the MigrationWiz PowerShell, make sure that all of the prerequisites have been installed, such as .Net 3.5 and PowerShell 4.0. PowerShell must also be enabled in the MigrationWiz account. If API access is not enabled for your account, contact Support for assistance.
Why might it be necessary to change the source or destination address of all the users on a MigrationWiz Project?
If performing a tenant to tenant migration while keeping the same domain name, and the migration was started using the vanity domain on the source addresses. Note: In the Migration Guide for this scenario, we recommend the use of .onmicrosoft.com addresses for both source and destination addresses to avoid the need to do this.
If Autodiscover has just been run on MigrationWiz to discover all the source mailboxes, and you are migrating into a different Destination email domain.
These examples are two among others that might make it necessary to change those addresses. The script below will change all source addresses, based on a CSV file that needs two columns, as show below:
Once you run the script, the first thing it will do is prompt you to enter your MigrationWiz credentials:
After inserting the credentials, the script will prompt you to enter the MigrationWiz project name, and the location of the CSV file:
Once all the data is inserted, the script runs, and changes all the source addresses, as per the information in the CSV file.
If it is necessary to change the destination addresses on the MigrationWiz project, read KB005157.
