What's New in MigrationWiz?
Active Directory Migration Enhancements
This release introduces key improvements to Active Directory migrations in MigrationWiz, focused on visibility, control, and reliability. Users can now edit and preview Active Directory object details in the console, control how and when data is synced, and ensure secure handling of credentials and identity attributes. These updates streamline the migration process and reduce friction in both standard and hybrid Active Directory environments.
Computer and Printer Object Migration
MigrationWiz now supports the discovery, migration, and management of local Active Directory computer and printer objects. This includes end-to-end automation through a dedicated mini agent, simplified installation flows, and seamless integration into the MigrationWiz console. Key object properties are preserved during migration to ensure consistency and reduce post-migration cleanup. These enhancements allow organizations to carry over critical infrastructure components with greater confidence and efficiency.
SID History and Password Management
Active Directory migrations now support SID History, preserving access to legacy resources across domains. When password sync is not used, MigrationWiz can assign strong random passwords that meet complexity requirements. We've also addressed password sync reliability to ensure accurate and secure handling throughout the project.
Simplified Object Management and Customization
MigrationWiz now offers deeper visibility and control over Active Directory objects. Users can view full object details in the console and manually update properties like UPN and alias to resolve potential mismatch issues or tailor objects for the destination. A new "Simulate Change" option allows admins to preview changes before applying them, reducing risk in complex migrations.
Console and Agent Usability Enhancements
UPN suffixes are now visible and editable during setup. Destination suffix handling has been corrected to avoid mismatches. The Destination Agent’s activity window is now larger and scrolls automatically, and both agents include clearer login instructions to reduce confusion during setup.
Controlled Sync
To improve transparency during ongoing migrations, a new “Continuous Sync” column has been added to the MigrationWiz console. This allows users to quickly identify which objects are actively syncing, paused, or pending updates. The addition streamlines project monitoring and supports better troubleshooting during multi-phase or long-duration migrations.
Attribute-Level Updates
The Source Agent now supports scheduled resyncs which enables better alignment with project timelines. The Destination Agent writes only updated attributes instead of overwriting entire objects, preserving custom changes. A “Do Not Update from Source” flag prevents further changes to locked objects, while a new sync status column provides real-time visibility into object state.
