What's New in MigrationWiz?

Active Directory Migration Enhancements

This release introduces key improvements to Active Directory migrations in MigrationWiz, focused on visibility, control, and reliability. Users can now edit and preview Active Directory object details in the console, control how and when data is synced, and ensure secure handling of credentials and identity attributes. These updates streamline the migration process and reduce friction in both standard and hybrid Active Directory environments.

Auto Update Agent on Start

To help prevent issues caused by outdated components, the Active Directory Agent now checks for updates every time it starts. If a newer version is available, MigrationWiz will prompt the user to download and install it. MigrationWiz users can choose to proceed with the update or skip it, but the prompt will continue to appear at each launch until the agent is updated. This allows MigrationWiz users to have their agents stay current with the latest improvements while allowing flexibility in upgrade timing.

Custom and Extension Attribute Handling

Active Directory migrations now include logic to detect and migrate custom and extension attributes in Active Directory environments where applicable. These attributes are commonly created when Exchange On-Premises is installed and are only migrated if they exist in both source and destination schemas. The Active Directory agents perform a schema check to confirm availability before attempting read/write operations. When an attribute is present in the source tenant but missing from the destination tenant, instead of triggering an error, the attribute is skipped and noted in the migration log for the MigrationWiz user to decide how to manage it based on their preferences.

General MigrationWiz Enhancements

Improved Autodiscovery for Teams-Enabled SharePoint Sites in SharePoint Site Migrations

We’ve enhanced the SharePoint Site migration autodiscovery process to automatically detect and list Teams-enabled SharePoint sites. This improvement provides clearer visibility into sites linked with Teams, enabling users to better plan migrations. With these improved autodiscovery capabilities, users can now easily detect additional Teams-enabled SharePoint sites beyond the primary default site. Organizations managing multiple SharePoint sites associated with a single Team can efficiently identify and include these sites in their migration plans. This enhancement simplifies the overall migration experience, increases flexibility in handling complex site structures, and ensures comprehensive migration of all relevant content.

Improved Memory Handling for Increased Performance and Responsiveness

We’ve made significant enhancements to how memory is managed throughout the platform, resulting in noticeable improvements to overall speed and system responsiveness. These updates enhance the efficiency of migrations and project operations, particularly in environments with high data volume or complex workflows. Customers can expect faster execution, reduced delays, and a more seamless experience when managing and running their migrations.
