Important
The following guide applies only to migrations that have Microsoft 365 endpoints as destination tenants. To set IP Addresses of non-Microsoft endpoints, please visit the following article.
Autodetection of the Region of Destination Tenant
The Region of Destination Tenant feature helps improve migration performance through autodetection of the continent-level region closest to your destination tenant using the OpenID API for this detection and reading data from the Application and Directory IDs.
This selection happens automatically using a Round Robin Method when you create and save your project for Microsoft 365 as the destination tenant.
Round Robin Method
Round robin is a simple, yet useful method used to distribute requests evenly across multiple data centers.
Imagine MigrationWiz has three data centers in the Europe region: Netherlands, France, and Ireland. By default, each project created in the same region will be assigned to a different Data Center. The system distributes the connections in a round-robin manner as shown below:
- The first project request goes to the Netherlands.
- The second to France.
- The third to Ireland.
- Then the cycle repeats: the fourth to the Netherlands, the fifth to France, and so on.
This method ensures the load is evenly balanced across the available data centers in the region.
It works by taking turns in a circle, ensuring that each data center gets an equal share of the load, one after another.
- Set the Advanced Options
- Open Firewall Ports
These steps are fully described below.
Set Advanced Options for the Project in MigrationWiz
Complete these steps to set the preferred data center and add the support option for IP LockDown:
- Sign in to MigrationWiz.
- Access the project dashboard.
- Click Edit and select Advanced Options from the dropdown menu.
- In the Support tab, add
Tags=IpLockDown!to the Support Options field. - Click Save.
Destination Settings
Please note that each time you edit your project endpoints, the following message will appear at the top of your project window (where the blurred section shows the detected region):
Important
The datacenter being used in the project can only be viewed while no items exist in the project. Once you add line items, the message will disappear automatically.

Important
You cannot manually change the region of the destination tenant for this migration type (Microsoft 365 as destination tenant).
If you need to change the destination tenant’s region to a specific Region Data Center, please make sure to first create the projects. Then, contact support with your request and include the list of the project names you want to lock to a specific data center.
